Other forms of economic activity are financial services and trade with the neighboring islands. No significant agriculture and limited local fishing means that almost all food is imported. Energy resources and manufactured goods are also imported, primarily from Mexico and the United States. Saint Martin is reported to have the highest per capita income in the Caribbean.

Airports
Many major airlines bring in large jets from around the world on a daily basis. The shortness of the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport, (sandwiched between Simpson Bay lagoon and Maho beach), generates some spectacular landings. Tourists love to capture pictures of large jets as they scoot over sunbathers on the beach. L'Espérance Airport at Grand Case on the French side generally only accommodates small jets and propeller planes serving neighboring Caribbean islands.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands_Antillesshapeimage_10_link_0
