review of Allegro Pineapple Beach Hotel in Antigua. Antigua is a Caribbean island with a hotel called Allegro Pineapple Beach Hotel. Allegro Pineapple Beach Hotel is the hotel I stayed at in Antigua. Antigua has many hotels. Allegro Pineapple Beach Hotel is just one of those in Antigua.Pineapple Beach club was sold to Allegro some years back by Antigua Resorts who had established an excellent reputation for this popular "all in" resort. Naturally there was some concern about what changes might transpire but the staff remained in place and "Allegro Pineapple Beach Club" has continued in the established tradition. Tourists continuously report that they are VERY happy at this an all-inclusive tropical haven set on the pristine, white sand, beachfront of Antigua's northeastern shore.

Located 25 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport and 30 minutes from the capital city of St. John's the hotel is somewhat remote. There is not a lot else out there but of course getting "away from it all" is part of the charm. Renting a car for a day or two is a good plan and the resort organizes excursions and shopping trips to town.

This 25-acre Garden of Eden is one of the hotels I recommend regularly... not as expensive or as exclusive as some... but rated highly by their guests as value for money. One low price includes: one of the 135 air-conditioned guest rooms; all meals (ordered from a la carte menus and served at private tables in one of the two restaurants), all beverages including NAME BRAND liquor (unusual for all in), Caribbean beer, house wines by the glass, soft drinks and tropical coolers; watersports with equipment and instruction, (windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling, kayaking and reef-fishing; oceanfront freshwater swimming pool), a shopping tour to the capital city of St. John's, weekly beach barbecues; tennis on four championship courts; open-air fitness center; live nightly entertainment; all taxes, services charges and gratuities.

Water on the East coast is always the clearest and extensive reef subdues the waves of the Atlantic. The waters surrounding the hotel contain an intricate maze of coral but best snorkeling is some way out where depth drops off to 15 feet.

Allegro Pineapple Beach Club offer 4 classes of accommodations each featuring air conditioning, telephone, coffee/tea maker, satellite TV, cribs (upon request) and hair dryer ...

My husband and I escaped to Antigua this month &endash; 07/02 for 8 days. Well, truth be told we originally booked it for 5

day's. When the 5th day came we just couldn't bring ourselves to pack and leave. So, after a few phone calls we

extended our stay to 8 amazing days. We stayed at the Allegro Pineapple Beach Resort &endash; about a ? hour drive from the

airport. I've researched hotels in Antigua and I found that these types of reviews are the most informative. So here you

goŠ to all who are in the process of researching resorts in the Antigua area - I have outlined the details of our trip.

Airport &endash; We flew Air Jamaica as we most alway's do when we vacation to the Carribean. It was a direct flight from

New York &endash; 4 hours 5 minutes. We landed on time and were surprised at how quickly we got our luggage. Our

pre-arranged cab was waiting for us outside. We arrived at Pineapple Beach in 25 minutes flat.

Check In - We arrived at PBR at 12:30. Check in normally is 3pm, however July is their down season, so our room

was ready when we arrived at 12:30.

Room &endash; We requested a beach front room. And a beach front room is exactly what we were given. We had a small

patio on the first level (they are two floor buldings) with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. The beach was no

more than 5 feet from our patio. Our room was furnished with wicker charis and we had a King size bed &endash; a couple of

nice sized closets. Terracotta floors and the air conditioner kept our room chilled the entire time. The TV worked just

ok - we had the main channels &endash; ESPN, CNN..etc.-It was a bit snowy though. They had a blowdryer, but I did not see

an iron. So definitely bring an iron with you. There was hot water and the water pressure was just fine. I write this

only because I've been to other resorts where the water is practically cold and the shower head drips instead of sprays.

All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend the 2 series beach front rooms. The ocean view room are on the other side of

the resort with no beach and lots of rocks&endash; simply view of the ocean. If your looking to have your feet in the sand at

most the second you leave your room, then book a beach front. You WON'T be disappointed.

Restaurants &endash; There was the main dining area &endash; the Topaz Restaurant. They had a variety of food to choose from. No

reservations required. The food was much better than your average all &endash; inclusive. They served dishes such as Pasta in

a white seafood sauce with crab, shrimp and scallop &endash; DELISH! There were two restaurants that required reservations

and dress slacks for the gentleman &endash; they are pretty strict about this so everyone conforms. At the Pineapple Grill &endash;

they served, Quesadillas, shrimp cocktail guacamole &endash; and seafood enchiladas. Obviously it had a Mexican theme. We

love Mexican so we were very pleased. The Chefs Table served filet mignon (but it didn't look like your typical filet &endash;

truth be told I think it was sirloin &endash; in any case it was still very good. You must visit Mary's Outhouse. It's a bit of a

hike but well worth it. Mary offers some of the best ribs and chicken. You can eat all you want and she's an absolute

sweetheart. When and if you go there you will see that most visitors leave their mark &endash; basically you find something

you can tag your names on &endash; like a piece of wood or even a hat and you nail it to her outhouseŠwe left our mark

there!

Day Time Activities &endash; Everyday there were horseshoe throwing contests. The staff gathered everyone for volleyball

daily, which was a ton of fun. They have two tennis courts and they have basketball. (VERY FUN!). We took a ride on

the Catamaran &endash; very exciting. We also walked to the very end of the beach to go Snorkeling &endash; the fish were so

beautiful! They have a large variety of game boards and cards to choose from.

Beach &endash; This is what you pay for when you stay at this resort. The sand is soft and white and its fairly long.

Summertime is their down season &endash; we didn't mind it at all. We alway's found an umbrella table on the beach or a

private spot as the resort was only 1/3 filled.

People &endash; Most vacationers were British &endash; I would say approximately 2/3's were British. Other's came from the North

East & Canada. The staff was super friendly. They never once looked to be tipped. Of course we tipped Shaka (BIG

HELLO TO SHAKA!!!) who brought our bags to our room. WE have been to other islands who were also

all-inclusive and their hands were constantly out.

Nightly Entertainment &endash; They have a small Game Room. Inside you will find a pool table and a misplaced Dart Board.

They have about 20 or so slot machines of which only 2 or 3 worked. We obviously did not go to this resort for the

gambling. They also have a Disco and the DJ plays GREAT music. Unfortunately it was dead our entire stay. We

went one night and we found ourselves with one other couple. One night they had some dancers come out &endash; it was sort

of an amateur show quite honestly. But they were dressed in colorful get-ups - it was somewhat entertaining. All in all,

do not expect a crazy all nighter party type vacation.

I will end my short book and summize by saying that aside from our honeymoon in St. Lucia this was by far our best

vacation. Some vacationers come back from their trip feeling like you need another vacation. Not the case at all. We

came home and were completely relaxed. We'll carry and treasure these memories forever. Also, a lot of people we

spoke to were repeat visitors &endash; 2 and 3 times. Who know's - we may be too one day. Thank you Allegro for the best

vacation ever!!!
