Hawksbill Beach Resort

Hawksbill is probably the only hotel in Antigua that can boast three beaches, including Antigua's only official nudist beach (some distance from the hotel). A series of beach front cottages provide some of the accommodation and the rest are comprised of two story blocks set in an attractive tropical garden. A reef just off shore makes for excellent snorkeling. The hotel is a little remote if you want to go to town so you will probably want to budget for renting a car for a day or two. Tourists who have stayed at Hawksbill are usually happy there.

The Hawksbill Beach Resort is blessed with an unusually

beautiful shoreline location. Facing out toward the

picturesque rocky islet that gives the resort its name is a

delicately scalloped line of no less than four soft white sand

beaches, one of which is clothing optional. Clustered around

the beaches and extending back into the resort's

thirty-seven acres of landscaped tropical gardens and

grounds are a wide variety of inviting accommodations, from

quiet beachfront cottages and club rooms to balconied

suites looking out over the palms to the sea.

Those desiring a full panoramic view of the sea and shore

can stay in the colonial-style Great House, which lies on a

modest peninsula between two of the resort's crescent

strands. Add to this a fine Continental-style restaurant, a full

range of activities, regular nightly entertainment, and an

eye-catching colonial sugar mill housing an on-site boutique and it is easy to understand Hawksbill's popularity. Its

informal atmosphere and its reasonable prices make this lively resort a favorite destination among Europeans and

younger couples and the perfect choice for those seeking a memorable spot for an exciting, romantic escape.

The friendly staff at Hawksbill's Water Sports Office offers a full range of activities and equipment. Sunfish sailing,

snorkeling, windsurfing, paddle boats, waterskiing are all among the diversions available here, and, with the exception of

waterskiing, are all completely free of charge. The tennis court, also free, can be booked through the Water Sports Office,

where tennis balls and racquets are also available. Tennis shoes are required.

Evening entertainment encompasses a wide variety of musical events, including steel band, limbo dancers, and

calypsonian, as well as fashion shows, cocktail parties, and the regular evening happy hour.
