Coco Bay was developed in collaboration with Virgin Atlantic and is located on idyllic beach front near the extended facilities of Jolly Harbour which guests to Coco Bay can take advantage of. Following the simplistic criteria of the original Coco's every cottage looks out across Antigua's beautiful West coast where the sea is almost always calm. It is not a big resort. Just forty-five soft pastel-coloured cottages, in classic Caribbean style, with gingerbread fret work, large airy balconies, cream and white sea island cotton fabrics,and natural wood finishes.

Cocobay, an exclusive resort hotel that rambles across an undulating hillside between two idyllic powdery white beaches. Gardens are still evolving in brilliant shades of Caribbean blooms, fringed with graceful palm trees. The location is perfectly chosen. In Fact, I once mused about building a house on that very spot. Views are TRULY breathtaking and you can watch the boats from the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club race in the bay every Saturday afternoon.

Cottages are roomy with large bathrooms and airy private balconies. Of course they ALL have that perfect vista of the Caribbean sea. Some balconies also have a hammocks to laze into. This is not a place to worry about work. Its place is about getting away to simplicity and style where the noise and bustle of regular life seam like a bad dream.

Hand-carved plantation style furniture, completes the picture. All beds are king-size, (two single beds in twin rooms) Facilities in every room include: mini-fridge ceiling fans, hair dryer, coffee/tea maker and wall safes. The resort's infinity pool, perched on the edge of the hillside, provides an unbroken view of the sea and skyline. Once peacefully ensconced in it, infinity seems not so far away.

The resort also offers a selection of simple wellness treatments. It's a back to nature, herbalist approach that promotes massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, body scrubs and other specialized treatments aimed at establishing a feeling of well being.

You may be so content there that investigating the rest of our beautiful isle seems less important. But don't overlook the opportunity to extend the adventure. You can arrange optional services and excursions via guest services...

If your going to Cocobay you will have the best holiday you could imagine, we did. From the second you arrive & get handed a cocktail, look at the view over the bay, you'll know your in paradise. They even let you checkin to your cabin, have a swim and a drink before you have to register. We could find no fault with the resort, outstanding points are:

1. Cabins are great, who needs air con, we left the doors and windows open permanently, the cooling breeze does the job, sleep under the mozy net and wake up to the view. The showers opens onto the balcony so you can even enjoy the view while getting clean.

2. The landscaping is beautiful, realy lush and colourful.

3. Pool looks great but we spent all of the time on the beach. Get down early to get some shade it gets extremely hot 12-3. The sea is clear aquamarine with a nice little reef to do some snorkeling.

4. The staff are wonderfull, always smiling, nothing is too much trouble, great people, say hello to Bernadette, she's lovely.

5. The food is exceptional. Breakfast - Fresh fruit, cereal, cold meat but the best is the ommlettes and bacon. Lunch - Salads and a choice of fish, carribean curries, pasta etc plus the best ice creams. Dinner is like spoiling yourself with a treat every evening, choice of starter, soup and main course. I don't normally do sweets but they are impossible to resist and fantastic. I cannot rate the food highly enough, we always had something delicious to eat.

6. The bar is great, the coctails delicious, Wadadli beer morish. If you enjoy going to a pub with the ultimate view where you can either sit on the veranda being romantic? or be sociable with other great people, you'll love this place. We made some very good friends and had some fun, but it is not lively and loud, if you want to party go to JBR. The is no average age or type of person there, we met all ages, all nationalities which makes it great.

7. We went on some fantastic trips: Ecotour with Eli (adventureantigua.com)is the best day out we had. Snorkeling around beautiful coral reefs, island hopping, eating, cruising around on the boat, chatting, an exceptional day out, book online with Eli & save 10% (US$81). Circumnavigation of Antigua with Wadadli Cats is very relaxing & fun (especially Atlantic section) - say hello to Wanlov, cool and interesting rastaman (US$75). The island safari is very interesting and a good way to see the island from the land, you get to see some sugar mills, old forts, Devils Bridge, some great off road driving and the rain forest (US$60). If you want to go to Shirley Heights get the cab from the resort at about 4pm which gets back at about 8ish so you can still get dinner (US$22). We spoke to people who visited Monserat and Barbuda, both trips sound great but a little more expensive, we're saving those for next time.

As you can see we had a great time in a great place, we will definitely go back. We saw lots of other resorts from the sea and nothing looks half as nice without spending silly money and to be honest Sandals and Galley Bay didn't compare when we spoke to those guest on some of our trips. If you want total relaxation in paradise, with exceptional service and food and great company I doubt you could do better.

We stayed at Cocobay in April and can only describe the resort as fabulous. On arrival we were a little bit anxious due to the potholed access road, however as soon as we stepped into reception we were speechless! The views were better than the brochure, the staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The huts were unique - rustic, luxiourious and romantic all at the same time. Showering in the open air overlooking the caribbean was truly memorable. Evening meals became an occassion with everyone dressing up and the friday BBQ was a highlight of our stay. We spent most of the week lazing around the infinity pool, only straying to get the daily special cocktail from the bar.

Our only word of warning is the medicine man trip. We were honestly looking forward to an informative and enjoyable walk. What we got was a man who had overdosed on his own publicity. He did not take account of the mobility of the group and at times his comments were offensive. The walk is an opportunity for him to sell his overpriced products.

Overall though, this place is a gem - if you're looking to get away from it all, to enjoy good food and company and to be thoroughly spoilt by the accommodation, food and views - then this is the one for you. Enjoy!

We went to Coco Bay for our honeymoon last May/June and we thought we had found paradise! What a view you got as you walked out of Reception. The sea is a colour I could not descibe - you would have to see it yourself. We stayed in one of 50 pink or lilac cottages and the only problem we had was you had a fan rather then Air Con but after a few days you goy used to it. The food is excellent and I am very fussy - they cooked me my own special meals that I requested. There are two beaches which are only for the Cocos and they also have a pool which over looks the cliffs. We had a wonderful time there and hope to go back one day.
